05 Tacoma sport package LSD

Is the LSD in the sport package a true LSD. I thought I read on a post somewhere that they said toyota uses the brakes to simulate its an LSD rear. Is this true at all

On all of the trucks except the Sport the only available LSD is the traction control/brake based system. The TRD Sport package includes a true mechanical LSD. I am still trying to determine if that eliminates the choice of the traction control option on Sport models. There have been posts saying that yes it does and that no it doesn't in various TS threads. The product brochure indicates that it is available, and one of my local dealers say it isn't. I tried the costco site recommended to me, but they don't have any dealers in my area, so I'm still not sure.

Thanks for the info. I was getting a Speedway Blue access cab 4.0 6speed Off Road package. Dealer said they found it. Now they said they cant find one. SO I am going to be ordering from factory I guess

. I want the hood scoop and painted mirros and grill so i will be getting the sport Package. I just wanted to make sure that LSD is a true LSD in the sport package.

It is a TRUE Ltd slip device! I have painted black lines in my parking lot to prove it!

Yep it's a true LSD. And I love mine so far. I had a locker before but ended up never using it. The LSD has me sold to never by another truck without it.

I beleive the x-runner's also have the LSD standard.

Hi.
I have a 2005 Taco, AccessCab PreRunner w/ TRD Sport package, manual. Was wondering if the LSD kicks in automatically? In my 2001, I had a switch I could engage from the dash. Don't have that in my 2005. Was wondering if they forgot to hook something up at the factory?

in your 2001 that was not a LSD that was an electric locker
