Well I finally got my K&N cold air intake. Everything was going good untill the step were you had to install your mass air flow sensor. I took it off my old one and was getting ready to put it on the new tube when I noticed that it would not sit the right way. It would sit in the hole backwards and bolt up. But if you sit it in the hole the right way it would'nt bolt up. I called K&N and they said that many tundra owner have had this prob. and to just install it backwards. So I did and installed it and I put the rest of it together and installed it on my truck. I walked around and started my truck.. started up and ran for maybe 2 sec. and died just as i looked at my dad and said just as I though you can't turn your mass air flow sensor backwards cause then it can't read and shuts you engine off. The guy at K&N is stupid. So i took the tube back out took a drill and shaved off about a quater inch inside of the hole and now it sit the right way. I put everything back and restarted the truck finally it RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called that guy back and told him you had to make the hole move back just a lil' bit and they wanted me to send pics. so I did. But I can notice a big power difference in my truck. I love it...

Are you really feeling a power increase? The consensus on a lot of the other threads here is that it really doesn't make that much difference (except making it louder), so I've been somewhat hesitant to get one.

Well I did a lot of research about it and found a lot of people saying there no good. Well I decide that I should just go ahead and try it. So I did and i'm very please with the results. my truck is an 2002 and had lost some of it's power but now I think it feels like new again maybe a lil' V-force Dual Exhaust. Try sould Really good together.. I can turn heads when I pull out up to 3500 rpms it is a loud exhaust .. after about 3000 to 4500 rpm the intake gets pretty loud but I love the sound. A lot of ppl. on here say they hurt more the help but about 7 or 8 Mechanic's told me it would help and one of the mechanics drags car he build drag cars for a living so do you believe someone who gets on here that say it don't help or someone who build cars for a living.

Every system is different. The race cars always run as close to peak rpm as they can get. Some makes and models of engines have poorly designed intakes from the factory. Toyota does a good job of designing the intake. K&N's own dyno chart shows a power loss with the FIPK below about 3100 rpm. If you run a lot above 4000 rpm the power boost might be worthwhile. http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/57-9020.jpg

This is very true I just looked at the dyno. But I don't need a lot of power at the low rpm. I have a boat and it is nice to have that extra power when going up hill when your truck is running in the high 3000 to low 4000 rpms. I don't plan on racing my truck very much. so i don't care to take a low end power lost when it'll help me on gas and get me extra power while hauling stuff up hills. And on top of the I live in the hills of Eastern Kentucky not very much flat land out here so i'm use to my truck running high rpms anyways. so maybe that is why i tell a difference is because I go up hills more.
I just installed a K&N Cold Air Intake, and I am really happy with the better MPG and the increase in power. I didn't have a problem with the mass air sensor. And the noice it makes is awesome..
Finally, someone else who likes the k&n there for a while I was thinkin' I was the only person that liked it. I don't care what people say I know it added power to my truck I can tell it isn't a huge difference but I can tell. My truck gets better mpg, it sound awesome with the exhaust, and looks a lot better then the stock air intake. So even if it did'nt add power I would still get it for the sound and look.
Its the cheap ebay version but, I get slightly better mileage, it sounds good when floored, and 0-60 times dropped enough to make it worthwhile for me.

I've looked everywhere trying to compare the goods and bads on each intake. But can't seem to figure which one is best. Does anyone know where I can find dyno charts between K&N and AEM intakes?

I've always used k&n filter and i've always have improved mpg and better performance. The mpg goes down when you punch it though more than it would with a regular filter. I'm going to be getting the AEM brute force intake, which uses a k&n filter. they show a 15HP gaing and 18lb-ft gain, at the wheels. I've used AEM products before and have been happy with them.
the volant has a conical filter inside the box. it also has a bigger hole with no tube that pulls air from the fenderwell. also the runner where the MAF is has a larger diameter and a smoother bend to the the throttle body.
