Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Seafoam question", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I went to put Seafoam into my truck today viw the PVC hose however when I removed the hose the truck just hissed at me and stalled out. I let everything warm up but the thing will not run without that hose connected. Anyone know if I am doing anything wrong or is there a different way to get this stuff into the engine?
Im afraid to run it through the brake booster line as that is hooked into the supercharger and I dont really want this stuff touching the teflon lined rotors.

I am not an expert but by diconnecting the pcv line you created a vacuum leak so big that the engine wont run. what if you attach the can of seafoam to the line and then restart the engine?

I usually rev the engine to about 2000rpm by wedging a screwdriver into where the accelerator cable connects to the butterfly on the intake. It still runs rough when sucking in the Seafoam (or BG44K) but is running fast enough that it doesn't die.
Either have somebody in the truck rev the engine to keep it from dying, or as previously mentioned, use your other hand to open pull on the cable. You could start the truck, quickly remove the line, put your thumb over it, and it should still run. Then stick the tube in the can and suck it up lightly, until about 2/3 of the way done, and submerge the tube. The engine should die, and then let it sit for several minutes.
I doubt it would hurt the teflon in the supercharge, but I would use the PVC as well just to be safe if possible.
Be prepared for your truck to smoke like hell.

I used the brake system vac line and while the engine didn't run too smooth, it did keep running long enough to get the seafoam into the engine. FWIW, everyone's right, expect LOTS of smoke.
Alright well I got it to run with thw hose off and excuse me for this newbie question but the stuff is not going through the PVC valve correct? It is going to be sucked through the supercharger because that is where the vacuum is? Is this right?
