Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "K and N Performance?", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just bought the K and N Intake System for the my tundra. Can anybody tell me how much REAL difference it can make performance wise. I have heard different things but do not know who to trust?
K&N had the dyno chart for the Tundra V8 posted on their web site. It showed about 2 hp loss up to something like 3600 rpm. Above 4000 rpm it had some gain, and was great above 5000.
So if you lose low-end torque and only gain some horsepower after 4000 RPM then chances are your truck is going to be slower. The v8 redlines at 5200 RPM!
Do any of you actually own a FIPK intake or are you just going by the dyno chart and word of mouth? Where on the K&N web site do they show this dyno chart, because I have searched for it and have not found such a test.
i've had a k & n fipkII in my seq for about 4 months now, and i began to doubt its effectiveness after reading all your comments that this thing is a waste of money. so i re-installed my modified oem airbox with a trd filter. i was pissed &!$$%)*( i did all that swapping for nothing) there is definitely more power with the k & n fipk. before i took out my k&n fipk i timed my 0 to 60, three tiimes and the average came out=8.5 seconds. with the oem modified airbox witha trd free flow filter, my average came to = 10.2 seconds.
so gentlemen, whatever you think or say about the K & N FIPK II system, i ain't never taking out my system!!!
john
I have had my FIPK for 8 months and I also have no regrets. I love the way it performs and sounds. I would buy it again. Several people have been talking about the K&N chart that used to be on their website, but is no longer there. I have taken a picture of the chart that came with my Kit.
Here is the link FYI: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo....pl?photo=1482
ive got a drop-in k&n with the wheel well tube removed and a 4.5" hole in the front of the airbox...huge difference over the stock setup with the stock air filter. the fipk should only be more of a boost. how much did you guys pay for the fipk gen2, and where did you get it?
