Default 2005 sequoia starter problems!

i recently installed an alarm/remote starter in my friend's sequoia. it worked fine for a week and then the factory alarm would go off when he remote started it. i needed to have the keysense wire triggered during remote start. ok, it works well for about a week and now the car has starting issues.

the alarm triggered last night saying that his trunk was open. he disarmed it, checked on the car and then found it would not start. it would make a "clicking" sound. last night it wouldn't start but today around lunchtime, he called me and told me he got it to start. now i'm checking it over to make sure everything is ok and now it will not start again.

when i try to start, i hear the clicking and i see the radiator fan move with every click i hear. when i remove the starter fuse in the fuse box in the engine, there is no longer any clicking but i hear a "whoosh" which i assume is the starter spinning.

i read the problems others were having with starters but not on a car this new.

is it a low battery? starter solenoid (where is this found)? starter relay (where is this found)?

please help guys.

I'm having the same problem with my remote start right now, it triggers the alarm when the truck is remotely started. I'm sure it is also the keysense, and I have an appointment in an hour to have it fixed. I'll run by your symptoms and see whet the techs have to say. Hopefully my own starter won't start acting up once it is fixed.

i checked the voltage on the battery and it appeared a little low. i jump started it and it worked fine.

any ideas on what might be draining the battery on a 3000 mile 2005 car?

First try starting it with the key, continue holding and cranking it for about 5 seconds. If its starts, then you can possibly have keysense problems due to the new alarm. It maybe sensing two keys at once causing the immobilizer to kick in preventing the truck from starting. Remove the wire you have connected to the vehicle's "keysense" and try starting with a key. If it starts up fine, you probably had the wrong wire hooked up. You need a status output from the remote starter module/relay to trigger the keysense only during remote start, this way you can still start manually with a key. Good luck.
