Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "05 Double Cab Vibration", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Since day one my 05 had a strange vibration in the 65-85 mph range in the rear of the truck. First time the dealer balanced the tires. Second time, the mechanic test drove it and said "what vibration?". Third time, mechanic drove with me and now understood the problem. Truck has been at the dealer 4 days now. No report.
Perhaps related. The rear of the truck vibrates under hard acceleration from a stop or from a slow roll. It last 1-3 seconds. Just a brrrrr from the rear and goes away. Interesting note. In the rain where the wheels could break loose, no vibration. So this is base on the tires loading up, hooking up.

Any thoughts?
I don't have that. These trucks do transmit road vibes pretty good. Do you have LSD?
Though I can't offer a solution (yet) I also have that sensation at take-off, driveline slop is what I've called it. I have vibration as well, though it's constant; up through the floor board and in the steering column, at idle and at speed, too.

It could be the drive line. I know in reverse the drive line will vibrate like crazy if you accelerate. Something about the angle of the driveline changing. Just something to consider. My .02
