Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Fumoto oil drain valve, anyone installed?", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
All Toyota models include Pickups on and after 1993 are fitted
with the same plug size (12mm-1.25).
And so, our part#F103 is the correct valve for your Tundra truck
w/V8 engine.
Thank you for your interest in Engine Oil Drain Valve.
------------------
Hopefully will make changing oil less traumatic.....
Got one in the mail just yesterday, will post some picks and some info on the install. From the looks of it, the drain hole looks a little small, so I'm expecting a slow drain like what I got on the Fram drain valve I put on my Acura. I do like the looks of this type of unit and like the fact that it's one piece instead of two...
I have posted pics of the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve, go to my photo's to check them out...
One thing I've noticed is the small diameter of the drain hole... looks like it'll be as slow as the Fram Drain valve I have on the Acura... Can anyone chime in on their experience with the Fumoto? I won't be able to comment for about 5000 miles.
I just ordered one but since I just changed my oil yesterday, it will be 10,000 miles before I am able to test a drain with it (5,000 change oil, install this, 5,000 later test it out).
i work in a toyota industrial forklift dealership. many of the major cartage company's (yellow, conway central ect} use these plugs on the forklifts as they change oil in these about every 2 to 3 weeks.
I have one of these on my 67 mustang, No leaks in 8 years
works great especially with straight 60W valvoline.

I saw this thread yesterday, so, I ordered one. I'll let you all know when I get it I will change the oil. Then It will be about another 3,000 or so miles before I actually get to use it.

Thanks for the link.... I read the last post on that page and ordered it through that site since it was cheaper plus I ordered the $1 "safety clip". I'm curious to see exactly how that works.

I ordered my fumoto last Sunday and it arrived on Thursday, not bad! Now I have to find time to do an oilchange and install it. Hover, that "safety clip" that they sold is just a hose clamp. The instructional pamphlet even suggests that "extreme use" engines have one installed with the correct size clamp. I think that is a "just in case" so the valve doesn't release. BTW, extreme use according to fumoto is logging equipment and farm tractors. But, it doesn't hurt to be safe

I have uploaded some pictures of the Fumoto that I received a few days ago. I ordered it from http://www.lubespecialist.com/ and also got the extra $1 safety clip which you can see installed in the pictures. That safety clip is not going anywhere because I can't even get it off myself with either my hands or a pair of needlenose pliers. I'll have to try a beefier set of pliers to get it off.
The 'safety clip' is nothing more than a spring hose clip. If you go to a parts store they have special pliers that have notches to hold the clip to compress it.
What I plan to do is get a pair of cheap slip joint pliers and grind a couple of notches in it and just leave them in the truck.
