opinions on PTFE additives/treatments

What's your opinion on oil or engine "treatments" such as Slick 50?

www.bobistheoilguy.com has a forum that compares all of these additives and none of them showed any value money or anti-wear wise. Peruse their forums and you'll find all you want to know about it.

My guess is that 99+% of oil "treatment" additives are Snake Oil in that they will not decrease the wear of your engine (especially the ones with PTFE additives). A good quality motor oil does not need any additional additives to increase engine life. Back in the good ol' days, a can of STP in the oil was probably for good cause... but these days with the complex oil additive packages already found in most motor oils, even STP would be of little additional benefit (let alone the higher priced treatment kits).

No solid matter belongs in motor oil. The snake oil companies have to call their ingredient PTFE 'cuz DuPont will not let them use the trademarked name Teflon. DuPont knows that it does no good in an engine.

Forget all the additives. If you want better oil, buy better oil. You, nor I, can concoct a better product than the oil company chemists can put together for any certain price point.
