This is a discussion thread titled "Tacoma 3.4L V6 Exhaust", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just purchased a 2002 Tacoma DC and am looking for some exhaust suggestions. I searched the web and found a couple of options at this website. http://performance.auto-parts-wholesale.com/
They have the Borla and Gibson systems. Does anyone have either of these installed?

If it was mine, I would install Downey headers, make a custom Y pipe, hooking up to your front cat. Then id do a 2.5" cat back with Either a Magnaflow 4x14" round, or Spintech Pro Street muffler.

Another option would be to stay w/the stock piping and just replace your muffler. My bro' has the Spin Tech Sportsman Street XL muffler on his '02 Taco and it sounds pretty good for a V6......
Try to find a muffler shop that will let you hear at least 2 or 3 different mufflers on your truck. Most aftermarket mufflers will have some sort of a 2K rpm drone inside the cab when driving long distances at 60-70mph....
I have a sound clip of bassani exhaust in my pictures on a 3.4l

i am talking about a magnaflow muffler. i have one on my x runner and love it to death. much better sound. also have heard the 3.4 with a magnaflow, much better tone. go with the 18 incher.
I just had a Flowmaster Delta 40 series muffler installed into my fiance's truck about a month ago and she loves it. Granted there is a slight drone at about the 2500 rpm mark but she doesn't care .
By the way, she has an 04 Taco, 3.4l V6, 4X4, extra-cab. After I'm done with my truck I will be starting on hers. She wants to get a lift and all that . Shouldn't have introduced her to the hobby .
Sounds like most people have just replaced the muffler rather than the entire exhaust. Is that the way to go?
By doing that you'd increase your chances on any performance gains w/the muffler. Unless you're gonna go w/headers at some point, it's cheaper to start off w/just replacing the muffler...... JB
