Default Exhaust tubing size

Just wondering if anyone knows the size of the inlet and outlet of the Tacoma 2005 model? I thought it was 2.25" but not sure. Havent had the chance to go out and look under mine today. Also are the inlet/outlet both offset or are they centered? Thanks for any info. Looking to order a Magnaflow and just trying to decide on which one to get.

I don't own a Taco, but do have a 03 4Runner w/ the 4.0... Just had the exhaust replaced and from the cat back, it's 2.5".... and removing that giant monstrosity of a muffler and replacing it with something smaller and better flowing makes a difference in your performance and I'm not exactly sure yet, but I think it's improved my milage....

I had them cut the exhaust just behind the cat and install 2.5" pipe the rest of the way back. I went with an Dynamax muffler and I think it sounds great... The muffler is about a 1.5 feet long x 1 foot wide x 4 inches tall (about the same size as a flowmaster) It's definately noticeable and much deeper sounding than my old 3.4L w/ a flowmaster. But it's not annoyingly loud and doesn't sound at all like the traditional "pissed off bumble-bee" sound that most v6's end up with.

And all for around $220, including nice exhaust tip.... Aluminized Steel will last for 10+ years down here.. I lived in San Diego for 2 years (Navy), and would suggest you save your money ($900+ for the Borla) and do it this way too... It's nice to have nice weather, eh? (ie: don't have to worry about salt on the roads)

Question

So what is the answer to the original question? The shop I'm using to install a Flowmaster 50 series just ordered a 2.25" in/out (they didn't have a center/center). Am I going to have to wait another day because it's really 2.5"? I certainly don't want to constrict things by using a smaller in/out pipe at the muffler.

Just came back from the muffler shop with a new Flowmaster 50. The stock pipe is 2.5 on the 2005 Tacoma w/ 4.0 in case anyone needs to know.

Interesting that it's larger than the 05 Tundra which I believe is 2 3/8"
