On these modern trucks, the only difference in the stock cats and aftermarket OBD 2 cats, are the size of the inlet\outlet. I believe the stock ones are 1 7/8" diameter.
It doesnt make sense to put larger cats on if your keeping the stock piping. If your goin to increase the piping size, then it does.
Logic asside, theres only a certain few vehicles that may use an aftermarket OBD2 converter in CA. There are some Chevy\Ford and Dodge vehicles that have been approved. If the vehicle is not on the list, you must use an OEM OBD2 cat.
