Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "2001 Tundra - Engine Whistling/Chirping noise", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have a 2001 Tundra with a V8. I have the cold weather knock that everyone talks about. I know it wasn't ther when I bought it last summer. There has also been another development: the engine makes a sort of whisting or chirping noise. It doesn't sound like exhaust or anything. It almost sounds like it's just a squeaky pulley--that's the best way to describe the noise. It also varies with rpms. Any advice on getting rid of the noise?

Change your serpentine accessory drive belt and your squeak should go away. Goodyear Gatorbacks are good and Toyota just updated their factory replacement belt so they may both be good.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
Yep, sounds like the accessory drive belt. I got a good Gates belt from NAPA.
