The standard Denso & NGK's are not pregapped. They're close within a few thousandths but not spot on. I've changed mine twice and out of the sixteen plugs only two hit the mark.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!
Denso Iridium IK20's are pre-gapped to .044. I just pulled a Denso iridium out of my 04 Camry - The gap was still .044 at 30,000 miles!
Brad
Brad , do you have any idea why the Denso Iridium's are gapped at .044 and the NGK Iridium's are .032? The stock gap on my 04 DC is .031.
I installed the NGK's and am pleased to date.

Confuses me as well. I've asked numerous people in the know here but no answer to the gap difference. The answer I got back from the Denso tech was "Oh really?"
The dealership suggested the NGK's only because they are gapped closer to the original plugs. As for price, the GM for NAPA here says NGK have deliberately priced their Iridiums to gain market share which explains the savings over Denso.

I'm running the stock denso's now and I gap mine to .031. These denso's replaced the bosch platnium4, which were in there for 70k+ and still look good.

I got my NGK Iriduim for my wife LX 470 and my tundra. LX specifies .044 and tundra .032. I talk to the parts counter person where i got the plugs online and ask if the plugs need to be gap. His comments are "they are pre gap from the factory. You should not have to do anything!"
Once I got them, just out of curiosity, I check them anyway. "Just be very very very careful touch the tips of the iriduim. They are coated iriduim, and very thin and delicate!"
The LX NGK gap was off by .036 to .047.
The Tundra NGK gap was of by .028 to .035
I am unclear as to what gap is being used by all in this thread but according to the denso site they are
saying .032 gap for the v8 and .044 for the v6.
I was searching for the IK 22's for my S/C'd v8 and don't see anything.

I got confused because our Camry uses the same plug, IK20 gapped to .044 but the Tundra is gapped at .032...go figure...
Brad
Usually the recommended plug gap will be influenced by the combustion chamber design of the individual engine and the available spark voltage.
