Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Diff. Drop Spacer torque", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
That's [actually] a really good question Ray! I'm interested in that info myself. After adding "washers" to the skid plate (to make it fit without hitting, after the install of the diff drop spacers), I have to wonder, if you "can" torque 'em down as much?

RCD iirc torqe specs are crazy like 150lbs on a 1/2" bolt. This however is a 10.5grade bolt.
My guess on the stock or the diff drop bolts its probably like 90 - 125lbs. I used a pneumatic to get the stock ones off and I had the air pressure at about 90psi and it really had to work to get the bolt loose. I just tightened down with the same force. The skid plate is probably like 15 - 25.

Imdone, thanks for your guess on the torque specs. I have the Total Chaos Fabrication diff drop. I could probably give them a call. They seem quite helpful. Does anyone have the Tundra service manual handy (mine is a 2002) with the stock diff bolt torque? Thanks.
