Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "TACOMA: Question about dual exhausts for a 05 Taco", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Is there a way I can get dual exhausts on my 05 double cab AND keep the spare tire under the bed? I want the tips to come out near the tail lights by the rear corners of the truck. Anyone have it done?
I also talked to the guy at the muffler shop and he said I should take the spare out because he doesn't trust the exhaust so close to the tire due to the lack of space under the bed.

It looks like he still has the spare tire under there, if anyone else disagrees, post.
The license plate is a dealer plate. The truck is new, and it was purchased in Colorado. If you look carefully in the left rear window you'll see the temporary tags taped up there.

wuuuuuurd... you know John Elway has that chit... like Ronnie Lott in Tracy, Ca.
Confirmed, if you stare at the pictures very closely, you can clearly see the spare tire under there. Good luck on your install, and post pics when you're done!
he doesn't have any mudflaps?? That's weird. Perhaps it was to make room for the exhaust?
Maybe...but some people take them off because they think they're ugly. I personally will leave mine on, I sometimes like to 'kick up some dirt' donut style, and don't want rocks flinging straight onto my truck.

Yes, I was also wondering if this could be part of the infamous "paint-chip" issues that people are having...

No I still am getting chips with mine on. I was talking to this guy in Canada and I guess up there they have a larger piece of 3m tape to help guard against chips but I guess we don't need it down here.
