If I've learned anything from this website, it's not to mess around with the stock exhaust. My only plans for our 2005 Sequoia is a set of ceramic coated JBA headers when they become available.

How about Borla as well? Forgot to add that in my previous post.

Probably but insufficient data to say definitely. The flow bench data I saw for Borla looked close to Dynomax's flow bench numbers and the few people here who have installed just a Borla muffler (not the whole catback) seem to have good things to say about it. I can't recall reading any solid credible reports (with some kind of objective data (dyno numbers, 0 to 60 times, etc)...not subjective impressions like "butt-dyno") regarding actual performance from Borla mufflers. And IIRC Borla mufflers are quite a bit pricier than the rest...probably one reason so few people have installed one.

Interesting. I installed a Flowmaster setup and when I lined up next to my buddies identical Tundra with stock exhaust I walked him by a 3/4 truck length up to 80mph every single time. Even if he got the jump off the line I would catch him and pull him. Once he installed the same Flowmaster setup we were neck and neck. Good sound , good quality, and no doubt an performance increase.
No hard dyno numbers (I only dyno the GS) but the real world performance is proven to me.

I agree! I'm running the "dreaded dual exhaust" and my Tundra runs better than it ever has. I also have the "restrictive" TRD air filter and a few other no-no's. No telling how much power I would gain if I went back to stock!

Loosing low end power would not hurt that much for off-roading... I turn off overdrive and usually run at 2500-3200 rpms and thats when the headers, K&N FIPK, and cat back exhaust would kick in to get the most power.

My Flowmaster setup is a cat back single to muffler ,then to duals out the back. Not the duals available on ebay and elsewhere.

i have had good luck with my borla. I have just the single stock config cat-back. I don't think the pipe is any larger than stock. It does sound sweet though. I am not into it enough to get it on the dyno. It looks good, sounds good, not a spot of rust after years of chicago winters, drop the hammer it takes off, good enough for me.

alright after racking up about 1200 miles with this setup (Gibson Headers+exhaust) I came to this conclusion..... I dont think i lost any bottom end power, but i do think I gained a little top end power. With the headers/exhaust and drop in K&N i can pull dead even with a 05' 4x4 xtracab V6 tacoma, from a light and going on a drop . the truck is REALLY LOUD, but I love it, I always get funny looks from Chevy and Ford truck owners when they hear the rumbe their trucks aren't making..... I'm going to do unichip and possibly start looking for a used TRD S/C. I just did Powerslot rotors and hawk pads, man i have the mod bug!!!!!!!

One thing you guys are totally missing is that if you install headers, you need to get the PCM tuned. Headers will mess up your A/F ratio (air/fuel). Take your truck to a reputable tuner with a dyno.

Default ECU can't be tuned...and tuning is not needed.

First of all, the Tundra's stock ECU (PCM) is generally not considered tunable...certainly not by your neighborhood tuner...Toyota has never released the code needed to tune it. Only the aftermarket units (Unichip) can be tuned. Allegedly Jet has broken the Toyota code but I have major doubts about how well they did it.

And in any case, tuning is simply not needed after header (or intake install). Yes, the headers do necessitate some A/F ratio adjustment but the stock ECU self-tunes itself by comparing inputs from the Mass Air Flow sensor/stored fuel maps to inputs from the 02 sensors. It adjusts the mixture so that the 02 sensors show proper (14.7:1) mix in closed loop operations and then stores those adjustments in the short term fuel trims. On each shutdown, a percentage of the short term fuel trim values is transferred to the long term fuel trims. On each start, the long term fuel trims are applied to the stored fuel maps to produce the initial mixtures...and then the process starts all over again. Eventually (after about 500 miles) this self-adjusting process produces the exact A/F ratio needed for proper operation with the headers.

So, to answer the original question then, you may see increase in power as the PCM adjusts itself. You may need to drive more than 150 mile before you notice any real change.

Good news is the flowy was free and install was done by a buddy, so out no $

Any one know a part # or name of the spintech I should get???? I have never used anything but Flowmaster.
