This is a discussion thread titled "TACOMA: 05 Tacoma exhaust", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Has anyone changed their exhaust on their 05? Want to change mine but I want to know what exhausts are good for the 05. Nothing TOO LOUD and obnoxious. Something a little mean. Need pictures too!

I have a flowmaster 50 on my X runner, sounds great and makes the truck seem like it's going to bust a can of oh $h!t out.

... get the stock muffler from an X-Runner. The magnaflow is loud, and a bit on the 'ricer' side.
i disagree. i have an x runner, and the stock muffler just wasnt cutting it. the magnaflow sounds perfect, i get compliments on it everywhere i go. takes about 1k miles before it sounds throaty tho, muffler packing needs to settle.

ive got a sound clip of it the first day, and it sounds much better now, but still sounds good. imo

I hope it gets better soon, as of right now I sound like every other ricer honda on the block... and that is far from my style...

Hi, I talked to Flowmaster yesterday and they recommend the series 50 muffler due to the 6 cyl firing order. But hey, I bet the 40 is fine and I'm sure it sounds sweet. I'm not sure which way to go, gibson side swept exhaust or just replace the muffler with a throaty sounding muffler?
