Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tacoma Speed Limiter?", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
its 110, and mike, i thought the same thing, but i went and tested it like 4 times, and on my brothers. 124.........but we both know its got more in it....
Car and driver had 109mph as the goverend max on their 6spd 4x4Dcab Off Road. I beleive they show 106 as max in fourth, then 109 for 5th and 6th. Wide open dont think she would go much faster than 120 (at least a 4x4 dcab) anyway. Like the first reponse said, aerodynamics of the truck would really 'catch' up quick
I had my X just little past the spedo burried and it ran out..I was just topping out 5th gear to had all of 6th left....I am def putting steeper gears in this truck like 3.55 or something

You mean shorter gears? That way you accelerate faster, and can use 6th

yea same thing you knew what I ment...Its like when people say they are downshifting and upshifting they always seem to mean the opposit of what you are thinking.
Yea I want to be able to actually use 6th and 3.55 would make her a little quicker instead of the 3.15 in there

it doesnt run out.....it hits the limiter. have faith its got alot more in it once we take care of that...
I know it doesnt run out...but I dont ever have a need to go aver 120 anyway...I wanna be able to get up to speed faster and some 3.55 would help me out...Shave a few tenths off 1/4

Has anyone looked into rpm's? I heard somewhere that it is the rpm's that they use to govern the engine. I think that is somewhere around 6500?
