Default spacer

You might want to ask around some more, but I've read that those spacers are a pure waste of money. No benifit AT ALL.

I believe the 2002 uses a 32bit ECM chip, where the 2000-2001 used a 16bit ECM chip. I am quit sure there was a thread on this subject here a month or so ago, if you do a search.

I tried one of those spacers in my T100 a couple of years ago. My old 1981 Toyota PU had a 22R engine in it. A friend who is a Toyota mechanic calls them "tractor engines." I could bounce the clutch a bit and get the truck rolling, then make a nice smooth acceleration. (At 140K miles there was still 60% left on the clutch.)

The T100 has a 3.4V6. My friend calls that one a "race car engine." You gotta have some revs going to let the clutch out on that damned engine. It really feels touchy and I've driven MANY different standard transmissions from a 1946 Willys Jeep to a 1960 Corvette - pickups, tractors, cars, big trucks, you name it. All I've ever owned were standards except for one. It always bugged me that I had to be so careful with the clutch in the T100. I saw the claims for these spacers - they're supposed to swirl the intake, promoting better fuel-air mixing and improving torque and HP. I suppose it sorta makes sense and they're not very expensive to buy and you can install them blindfolded, so I got one and put it on when I had about 90K miles on the truck. I now have 106K.

Frankly, I can't feel any difference, and haven't noticed any change of gas mileage (not a goal, anyway, just an indicator of change in performance) but I don't kill the engine as much as I used to. Did it really work? I dunno...
