Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Slight vibration, 2005 Tundra", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
hey vtesh, I think we may have had a different vibration issue....get this - I installed a magnaflow exhaust last weekend, and now at a stop, the steering wheel and floorboards/pedal are totally smooth....very very very little vibration, at least its not anywhere near annoying like it was previously....everything seems normal now (knock on wood). Because of this, I definately think mine was due to my exhaust. Dont know if it was coming from the resonator clamp/and/or bolts or the aftermarket chrome exhaust tip clamp possibly, but mine seems to be good now...and I love the sound of my new exhaust!
keep hanging in there, I know it can be frustrating. let us know what the regional tech says once you go test with him/her.
If I were to change my exhaust, what system would be best. I don't need a performance system. I'd prefer one that is quiet and not hard on the wallet.
Thanks
..well, Im not sure what would be the best bet for you if you dont want performance. Really, the only reason why you would want to change out your exhaust is to get better performance....and with better performance usually comes a system that will sound a little different (usually a little beefier) than the stock system. Im sure they make performance systems that are quieter than others...but it all depends on what your going for....if you dont want performance or beefier exhaust sound, I would just leave the stock. but check around on here for threads on exhaust systems...there are quit a bit....
My 2005 DC with 4100 miles is and has been silky smooth..so smooth you can't tell it is running. My truck is all stock except I do have the Linex that was done 5 mins after I got the truck so I don't know if my truck had the vibe and lost it....doesn't sound possible. I would think exhaust as a real possible cause. I have a project car that gave me a fit with all sorts of vibration and clunks....due to exhaust. Good luck and keep us posted.
