Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Almost a 300% power increase for the turbo Taco", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
We laid down 340 rwhp with 414 rear rwtq at about 9 PSI on a stock 03 Toyota Taco motor with 35" Good Year MTRs . The turbo was a GT35 and we were running with methanol injection. We unplugged the Unichip and just used a Walbro pump and FMU.
Thought you guys would like to know, remember the stock rwhp was only 120 horses!
When are you guys going to have an STS kit for the 4.0L in our '05's? Or are there no plans to do this?
I'd be interested in it for sure! =)

I hate to break it to you all, but although the trd charger with the right mods does make good power, I have seen first hand how powerful the sts kits are, even rollin on huge meats. I dont think its the greatest design nor is it mounted in a great place, but they do put down some incredable torque and hp. unless you got your trd charger really fixed up, I wouldnt recommend running against one. Don't say I didnt warn ya!

I would rather have a tradtional system. Having turbo mounted way back there and all that extra piping is RETARDED...I would think that you would have to crank up the boost just to meet the power of a lower boost on a regular system...I dont like the design at all
