Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Status on TRD superchargers", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Just sold: 2003 Silver SR5 Access cab: TRD Supercharger, Hellwig sway bar, cornfed 1 1/2 front lift, JBA Headers with Spintech muffler and stock catback, Ride-rite air bags, Line-X, XM radio
I've been away from the forum for a while. What is the status on TRD supplying superchargers for new Tundras and Tacomas?
As of right now, there hasnt been any talk of any upcoming product in the future.

From what I have been told, and thus far it is holding true... TRD was purchased by Toyota and now has to conform to stricter emissions standards. In addition, the 4.7L V8 S/C's gave TRD a black eye on the engines that were damaged. Lastly, automotive trends as of late are going AWAY from S/C and more to VVTi and VTEC and the like. Better emissions and MPG along w/more reliable and longer lasting engines. W/the $$$ of gas now, and in the long term, you sell more cars / trucks w/HIGHER mpg than HP. And, with the VVTi and VTEC and such, you HAVE higher HP and MPG as well.
That is what was explained to me!
