Default Supercharged vs VVti V8??

Which would you prefer owning: an older supercharged V8 Tundra w/4- speed or the new 05 VVti V8 backed w/5speed? I am deciding between getting a new Access Cab 4x4 or a simmilar low mileage 03 and add the charger for more performance/towing ect. Anyone trade up from one to the other or driven both back to back?

From purely a power standpoint, the SC puts out much more noticable hp and tq. From what I have read anyway.

An 05 V8 is a way to go....Reliability
Unless you can't afford an 05 ..
The supercharger is alright but there are a lot of issues with them...I didn't have no problems with mine but for the price its too much ...I love mine but loosing 3-5 mpg aint good plus more if you have an heavy foot...
I'd pick an 05 model over the 03 Supercharged anytime...
But I'm keepin my T3 till new model comes out in 07-08...

you will get a lot better mpg out of the 05. The added hp and 5 speed auto give the truck more power than you will need. I have an 05 D-Cab and my friend has a 04 chevy with the 6.0 and it wasn't even close in a race. Buy the 05 you'll love it

I could not be happier with the s/c on my 2003 . . . but remember that a new s/c might be very hard to come by these days as they are no longer offered by TRD.

If power is your only concern, the new vvti in stock form (and there is not yet much you can modify) is not even in the same league with my (heavily modified) s/c 4.7.

If mileage is a big concern, the new motor and 5spd will be much better, and the new one will still have "plenty" of power.

Good luck with you decision.
Aloha
