Default 05 Tacoma V6 - Engine RPM seems low

Ok I've only had mine for a couple of weeks now. 1100 miles already though and I've noticed something that sorta concerns me. When I hit about 38MPH and I'm just crusin through town I noticed that the transmission shifts up and my RPM hit's 1000 and stays there. When I go to accelerate though (not heavy due to traffic) the engine seems to bog pretty good until I hit about 45 or so. Doesn't do it any other time though accept between 38 and 45. If I get on it the transmission will shift down but it seems like I really have to get on it. Does this seem "normal" for those with the V6 and automatic transmission? I've noticed in general that the RPM stays way under 2500 for the most part. Probably accounts for the good gas mileage I'm getting (20mpg). Anyone know what the shift points are supposed to be? I found the downshift points when using engine braking but I didn't find the normal shift points. BTW engine idle's around 850-900 (just under the 1000 mark) when sitting at a signal or in my driveway after warming up.

Other than that I've had no problems and I love this truck. Looking forward to many years ahead.

Modern torque converters lock like a clutch at around 40MPH, reducing loss of power through heat and improving fuel economy.
