First oil change and other fluid changes.

I just got my Sequoia and was going through the Manual and It appears that they are no recommendations for fluid changes prior to 5,000 miles, can this be correct? I thought that you should Change oil before 1000 miles. Could someone give some advice as to what fluids and when should they be changed the first time.

The first oil change at 5000-7500 is correct according to the owner's manual. Lots of us feel that it's prudent to do the first change much earlier. 1000 is commonly done.

I think that a lot of the change intervals were extended to help make the maintance costs for a vehicle seem lower. Like when BMW claimed to only need an automatic trans flush every 100K

An early change of the engine oil, transmission fluid and diff oils is a good idea to rid the engine, transmission & diffs of any metal particles from the manufacturing and assembly process.
