Default Shift to neutral

Hey gang,
Still getting familiar with my truck, so I'm curious if this is normal. When I slow to a stop from 45-50 mph. after a few seconds the truck shifts (into first?) with a very noticable jerk or kick. What's up with this? I'll ask about it at the next maintenance service but I'm still getting familiar with my dealer too!
Thanks for your advice.

Cool sure it's the tranny and ...

... not the drive shaft? The shafts have been known to be under lubed from the factory. It's in a spline towards the rear and often is a sharp clunk with a little thump to it. It does not result in forward motion though.

Default Drive shaft?

Thanks CJ, I guess it could be the shaft. What exactly causes this? Is there some kind of kink happening from the lack of lubrication. Can I fix this myself?

If you have a 4x4 there are grease fittings on the driveshaft. If you have a 2wd you will have to remove the driveshaft to lube the splines.

You can check out this thread also.

Questions on complete synthetic AFT change...
