Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Need an answer ASAP... (LSD)", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
What years and models does the LSD come in the rear of a Tundra?
Thanks in advance.
There is propably a sticker on your rear axle wich says lsd oil only if you have a lim slip dif.
I bought my tundra in the year 2004 stepside ltd. It wasn't orderd with a lsd, but when wanted to fill up with new oil i saw this sticker.
You also can feel if you have this kind of dif. by driving on a gravelroad and give a little throttle when cornering. If both weel give traction you have lsd.
The best way I know is to jack up the rear axle and turn one wheel. If both wheel turn in the same direction, then you have a LSD, if they turn in opposite directions, you do not.

It was not an option on the 99 and 00 models. It was released for the 01 and later models.
99 and 00 could have retrofitted for big $$$ though.
The kazuma/trd lsd could be bought aftermarket but the factory lsd was only available in late model year 2001's and newer. Always an option, but included with the TRD sport package.

I helped my parents shop around when they bought their 2001 Tundra LTD 4WD and I know for a fact that there was no LSD option in 2001. 2002 was the first year it was offered.
