Default New OEM Exhaust Manifold ... only $365 Installed!

Like many TS subscribers I experienced a cracked driver's side exhaust manifold on my 2000 V8 Tundra. Going with the JBA headers sounded very appealing, especially when the dealer wanted $725 to install a new manifold on just one side. But money was a little tight, and I was content with my tundra's performance with the stock manifold (minus the annoying exhaust leak). So I looked for another option.

That's when I saw a thread by "trdsource" (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...ad.php?t=38596) with Claremont Toyota who offers all Toyota parts a quite a savings. I bought a new manifold with both gaskets, new nuts and a couple of extra studs for only $225 after shipping. This was a good $100 savings from my local Toyota dealer sin Denver.

My local muffler shop installed it for $140, so for only $365 total a got a new Toyota manifold installed. The truck runs great and that annoying exhaust leak is a thing of the past.

If I did a lot of towing and had the desire to install the JBA headers myself, then I would have gone the JBA route. But for $365, I was very pleased with my decision.

One note, the muffler shope said it was a lot harder to install the manifold than they had anticipated. The owner said they had to lift the engine off of one of the motor mounts to complete the job. From all of the header threads I had read on the various TS forums, I was not surprised that installation was still a little bit of a hassle even for a muffler shop.

So thank you "trdsource", and I hope this helps others with the same issue.

Congrats on the reasonable price.

Its not necessary to jack the motor up when R\R ing manifolds or JBA headers.

If your putting in Downey headers and keeping the OEM studs in the head, its necessary to jack up the drivers side only.

So what are you going to put on when that one cracks? Same thing or headers? I got about 27K on the original manifolds, so decided not to replace with the same thing again.
