Default From Stock Trans fluid to Mobil 1 on a 2002

OK, my question is this: Do you have to do a complete flush in order to go from stock tranny fuild to Mobil 1 synthetic. I'm at 30k and just wanna do the basic 4 quart exchange but I also want to use the best fluid I can.

Wont that be mixing fluid types if you dont do a complete flush?

Mixing is no problem for your 2002 transmission (2000-2002). Any Dexron-III ATFs can be mixed. The only thing you lose is the full benefit of the synthetic.

I just did that with my 2002, but I put over 5 quarts in. Buy a little extra just in case.
