Default help quick!! PO161

All right guys I need your help on this one. My 01 Tundra CEL just came on, so I got it checked and it is the passenger side, #2 (rear) o2 sensor. I this something I should try to fix myself or should I take it in to the dealer. I believe only the #1 o2 sensors were covered by the addl warrenty sent out by toyota. The truck is a daily driver with 71k on her.

1. Is this an easy fix? if so how much is the part? I was quoted $160 by autozone just for the part.
2. Or should I take it into the dealer? How much will that trip set me back?

Thanks in advance!!
Matt

Look for TSB EG037-04 in the TSB database here on TS. Print it out and take it to your dealer. Have them replace it for free.

Just because there is a TSB out, does this mean they should replace it for free??

Yes, because this is a problem that is not your fault and the consumer shouldn't have to pay for/replace an O2 sensor until many many more miles than 71K. Toyota is taking the responsibility by creating a TSB for it.

I just looked at this TSB and it is an proper identification TSB only. No mention of replacement. I finally replaced the front diver side O2 sensor (under warranty) and they also told me that the right rear O2 is also bad. This will be the 3rd O2 sensor replaced in my 2000 Tundra. I told them not to replace it, that I would do it, hopefully. Has anyone out there replaced this rear O2 sensor??? Thanks.
