Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Acetone in fuel help mileage?", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I've been reading that Acetone (in very small quantities) added to gasoline can increase MPG. Whether this is true or not is one quesiton, the other is what is the perspective damage to the engine?
Anybody have some knowledge of this?

Aside from the potential damage to components/seals what is the cost of adding it per gallon. Would you recoup the $$? I know when I add BG 44K to my tank my mileage does go up while it's in there. 1 can is about $12 for 12 oz. (1 gallon of it would cost about $128). My mileage does not go up by that much to cover the cost.
