Question Super Plug Users -- Question for You

I just received a Super Plug magnetic oil drain plug the other day for my 05 Taco.

I was looking at the threads and noticed they don't quite go all the way down to the head of the plug. With the sealing gasket installed, it looks like the threads stop just below the sealing surface of the gasket.

Question is -- are the threads on the oil pan somewhat receded in the oil pan. I'm wondering if the Super Plug will screw all the way in flush to the oil pan without the sealing gasket installed? This would give me confidence that the treads are not running out before the plug gets torqued down all the way with the gasket installed.

Has anyone tested to see if the Super Plug will screw all the way in to the oil pan with the sealing gasket removed to ensure the threads don't bottom out before the plug is properly seated?

I'll check this out when I do my first oil change, but would like to know what to expect before I do the oil change. I'll be disappointed if the plug can't be used.

Most good oil pan drain plugs have that radiused shoulder just beneath the hex head or there's a circular raised boss on the backside of the hex head. On the radiused shank it allows the gasket to stay stationary against the pan surface when tightened or loosened rather than spinning against the pan. Saves wear and tear on the gasket and the ID of the gasket doesn't get reamed out by the plug threads as it spins. Makes sense to me anyways.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

Well, I did my first oil change at 1000 miles and had a chance to fit check the Super Plug. It did screw all the way in by hand with the sealing washer removed, so there is no worry about the threads binding before the gasket is fully crushed.

I also noticed that the sealing washer on the drain plug from the factory is aluminum with a thin rubber coating on each side. You can see the aluminum edge of the washer. Strange, because the drain plug gaskets from the dealer are 100% black fibrous material. Wonder why the one from the factory is different?
