That sounds normal to me. Both of my fuel injected Toyotas do the same thing. My Supra will jump to around 1800 RPM on first cold start before dropping back to around 750 rpm. The Tundra jumps up to around 1400 RPM before dropping back to around 600 when hot.

That's just the way they work.

I think the big noise we hear is the fan clutch working when you first start it. Mine settles down in the rpm's pretty quick. My PreRunner does the same exact thing as my V8 Tundra.

Default High Idle @ Start

Good Morning,

There was someone With A Post on the (TS) Old Site that

thought they had found, Filling your Truck fuel tank with more

fuel after the (fueling nozel auto-cutoff stopped) first time

caused a High Idle @ start problem. My local Dealership fixed

this for me shortly after truck was new & Brought the starting

RPM back down to 850- 900, after a second or two 500- 600

which was a lot better; Now they cannot remember .

Would apreciate any help with this,

Thanks,
JT.
