Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "HELP!!!! Tundra died today", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I gave it some gas to get into the exit lane for I-75 in Dallas. The tundra just died. It wouldn't restart. Any ideas? The timing belt was replaced about 4000 miles ago. Thre wasn't any major noise. The check engine light now comes on. Any help would be great. I would like to get some ideas before I have to take it to a delaership.
The only thing I can think of for you to do is have the error code checked. It could be many things but you might see if you're getting "spark" and "fuel". It doesn't sound like an easy fix though.

First thing is to read the DTC thats triggering the engine light. That will help in the diagnosis.

That's tough but I could have been much worse. On my 76
Blazer when it died suddenly it was usually the ignition module but we don't have those. I always carried a spare since I got into pretty remote places on beaches in Mexico.
