Default Installed TRD V8 Supercharger!

Just had my trd headers, catback pipe, and supercharger installed on my 2001 Tundra! The only thing missing is the upgraded spark plugs! the stock need to be gapped or I need to get new .9mm plugs.

The qustion here is that could the plugs make that much of a difference? I just picked the car up this afternoon and I am disapointed in the results! the blower is noisy as hell, and the increase in power hardly seems noticable?

I am going to order new plugs, but I don't think that will make much difference?

Anyone have any input on this?

Something sounds drastically wrong. Did they reset the computer? That might make a difference.

I believe that the computer was reset! they do that by disconecting the battery right?

I had also heard something about the computer taking some time to adjust to the new system!

I just had to pull of the fwy due to violent pinging, turned the the engine off than re started it was ok!

Also it keeps stalling on me at red lights!

I am taking it back in Friday for the new plugs! I hope that helps!

Default Supercharger

I takes generally about 2 weeks for you computer to adjust to the supercharger and you driving. The two TRD contol boxes installed are the correct you pinging which is cause my not enough fuel. The are also some really awlsome added feature to the supercharger in the boxes.

So the computer needs to learn the correct fuel air mixture to add to the forced air! the pinging is caused beacuse the computer is not allowing the correct amounts of fuel?

Is this the same issue when it stalls at red lights?

What it the reason that they say you need to change to cooler spark plugs .9mm gap?

yes. I know it kinda sucks but you'll love that thing 50% increase on HP and Torque.

If this continues after about 2 week their could be a wire missing like Tundraman had it a flute but they were built by humans.

Thank's I hope it works out, I will keep you posted!

One other quick question! the blower makes a very loud whinning noise! almost like a power steering pump when there is no fluid present! the more you open the throttle the louder it gets! is this normal? does it go away with time/use?

Thank's

Default "whining"

The whining of the supercharger is typical every supercharger does it the only way to deaden the sound is a method that I dont know if any one has tired to but underbody coading on the under side of the hood also under neath the carpet near the fire wall.

Exclamation See another thread...

Read the thread "** Real Story on TRD S/C!! **", under Toyota & TRD Accessories. You are having the same problems as quite a few other people, your supercharger was not installed correctly.

For others, it seems to be the wiring, it has little or nothing to do with the plugs. TRD has a fix for it. Once it's installed correctly, your problems will (apparently) go away.

Good luck, we're all waiting to see how this new-fangled super-charger thinger works out .

that threat needs to be sorted out.
I notice basically that told one of those guys he was basically the beta tester. Odd I heard of TRD doing that long time ago but they usally install free and notify the customer.

Well, had the spark plugs gapped and the additional ecu wire!
this has solved the stalling problem!

There is for sure much more power! with the headers and catback the truck souds mean!

The one wierd thing is that if I drive slow speeds the truck runs awful close to the point of overheating! Jump on it and almost right away the temp gauge comes back into normal range??

I can't figure this one out!

They say there is some type of restrictor in the s/c water passage that needs to come out . When its out it will run cool like always.

I think its on that other thread ( real story on TRD s/c )
