Default Which exhaust?? (Borla, TRD, Bassani, Flowmaster)

Ok, I'm looking for performance not just sound. Out of the exhausts listed, which one has the best performance? I don't want something amazingly loud either, just something with better performance.

I see that horsepower gain for bassani. But you have to be realistic. What is the price difference between say the bassani and the flowmaster. I am using flowmaster because I just paid 300 and change for a catback system. It is not stainless but the is not really important to me. The bassani is about double the price. I do believe the most increase you will get will be 10 hp. So are you willing to pay 300 dollars for a 5 hp gain on your truck. I am not.

The system I'd like to have is a modified Spoon, which adds around 15-20 hp. Does anybody have comments on the Borla or TRD?

I have the Borla dual side exit system. It sounds great and it is stainless steel all the way down to the clamps. It has a great rumble to it but it isn't terribly loud. I chose the Borla because I live in Michigan and they tend to use a lot of salt in the winters here. I have had my duals on since Sept. and I have had one problem.

About a month ago, my drivers side exhaust was hanging much lower. The rubber hanger (the piece that attaches to the exhaust and to the hanger) split in half. I contacted Borla and they had two out to me within 3 days. They have a million mile warranty and they seem to honor it without any hassles.

Click on my photos to see pics of the exhaust.

Read the Bassani web site list for Tundras. I guess TRD is no longer the high price leader. Also noted their "Off-Road" exhaust only fits Camaros!? Huh?

I live in Florida where there is no snow and the salt is not an issue. I do not believe I will have the truck more than ten years (maybe wrong) for I will probably trade it in on a new tundra in a few years......

Point taken , I purchased it because I not only wanted stainless steel, the stock y-pipe removed, but also a proven high quality cat-back. I too plan on keeping my truck for a while and wanted something that could hopefully last as long especally through the winters up here. On a side note, If you check futher on the site it looks like they jacked up the price........again it about 1G . Glad I got one early.....

"Off-Road" often means racing applications only. Doesn't have to mean 4X4 type "Off Road." Hope this helps.

Thumbs up Exhaust

Down here in Tampa they are offering a dealer installed Borla Dual Cat-Back exhaust on many of the new Tundras. Interesting they are not using the TRD exhaust. Anyway, I test drove one and the sound at startup and idle is great, but not obtrusive at road and highway speeds. I did not notice any performance changes. Hope this helps...

Lightbulb Exhaust and Warranty

Does installing a new exhaust such as a Borla void the warranty? I have the 7 year 100K warranty on my truck, I don't want that voided when I install my Borla's tommorow.

Hopefully I get my exhaust tommorow, UPS hasn't updated the tracking number for 3 days, and I'm concerned that it won't make the scheduled delivery tommorow. Anyone else have experience with this?

The extended 'warranty' is not a warranty; it's a service contract. Read the fine print for your answer.

The off-road normally means that it is not street legal and should be used in off-road / racing situations only. I know that when people talk about getting an off road H-pipe it means that they take out the cats and put the H-pipe in its place.

Default need exhaust suggestions

i just bought an 04 tundra d-cab and was thinking of throwing in an exhaust. i dont know of any companies that have full exhaust systems out for the d-cab yet so i guess my next best choice is an aftermarket muffler. anyone have any experience with flowmaster or magnaflow on their v8 tundras? im leaning towards a flowmaster cause thats what i have on my v6 tacoma. anyone hear any good things about the 50 series deltaflow on a tundra? im looking more for that v8 deep throaty sound. any suggestions?

Glad that you registered. I'm still trying to find some manufacturers that offer if for the D-cab
