Thanks Shall36 for that nice tutorial. I got the NGK's, prep em and installed them in about 45 min. Just sat down from a test drive, aaahhhh very nice! The old plugs looked in good shape but the center post was worn pretty good. Boy talk about an easy job.

Well on the drive to work this morning I got a check engine light. Hum In my parking garage I popped the hood to see if I saw any hoses diconnected that I may have hit. All looks ok, still running like a champ! Any suggestions?

It may just be a coincidence that your check engine light came on a day after changing the plugs.

You may go by an Auto zone and have them check the code on the check engine light which is a free service. They can also reset the light and it may or may not come back on after the resetting.

I'm sure you are aware that the most frequent cause of the check engine light on our Tundras are the O2 sensors, but I don't see where changing the plugs would have an effect on those.

Let us know what you find out.

Good luck!

I just can't thank you enough for this file. I am green as they come, but with people like you out there It's a heck of a lot easier to understand the manuals.
Thanks again!!!

Great tutorial.

My 04 DC was pinging btw 3K to 4K RPM with wide-open-throttle. Idle wasn't the smoothest especially as the A/C compressor would cycle.

I changed the plugs at the 30K, and viola all problems disappeared and the truck feels like it has more power. I just got the Toyota (denso) plugs from the stealership and they are working great.

Toyota optional plugs from you're dealer
part #90919-01180-83 for platinum 60k life. PART #90080-91180 iridium 90k life.
I plan on keeping my new Bosch plugs around 40k tp 50k but they will be removed and checkd at 30k.

When changing the fuel filter, first loosen the gas cap, and second, it is standard procedure on many vehicles to remove the fuel pump relay or fuse and crank the engine, it will either start and die or never start. This will remove the fuel pressure from the lines and make it a safer and more pleasant job.

I actually looked at your how to before I did mine a few months ago. Excellent DIY. If you turn the pdf. into a post, we'll sticky it.

Do you have to apply anti seize to the threads everytime you pull the plugs? (ie: to check condition of plugs, do a compression test, etc)

I would...don't think you HAVE to, but I would. I keep a tube of anti-seize in my tool box for just such occasions.

Changed mine in about an hour today. Used the NGK $1.98 ones from advance. Seems to be running smoother.
