Default buzzing noise? What is it?

Last night I noticed a Whirring Buzzing noise coming from under the hood in the engine compartment. You can hear it when the ignition is in the on position before you turn it over. It seems to be coming from the center of the engine compartment more towards the back and fire wall. Is this normal and I only heard it now that I had my radio off? It is not the fan. I shut that off.
If you guys wouldn't mind, Go out and try it on your trucks and let me know if it is normal.
Thanks,

Yesterday when I cleaned my throttle body I was somewhat intrigued by the fact that the accelerator does not directly control the butterfly valve. Gone are the simple days of the ol' quadrajunks.

When it was ready to go back together I left off the air intake and turned the key to on. Walked back around the truck and moved the accelerator cable with my hand to watch the valve move. I was impressed by the response to the cable position... But anyway, to make a long story short, after moving the throttle cable there was a heckuva lot of buzzing coming out of that motor that opens and closes the valve. Maybe that is what you heard. This was the first time I heard it too.
