Default OBD II Reader Link Error

The first time I connect my Tacoma with a reader.... error.

There's no CEL nor any engine problem. I'm just curious.

I've tried the reader on other cars with no link problem.

Do I have a bad data port?

Just called the manufacturer.

OTC Stinger (3769) does not support protocal on Tacomas.

I'll just have to buy a new updated one.

Did they switch over to C.A.N. in 2005?

Suggest you Google it. This is the protocol replacing OBDII. All automakers will eventually migrate to it. I think my '05 Volvo is on C.A.N. My scanner is compatible with both.
