Default Is it possible to modify an '02 Sequoia center diff to lock in 4HI?

I really, really hate that I can't lock the center diff on my '02 Sequoia without being in 4LO, low gear. I ran across this article today that shows how to do a wiring mod to bypass a similar restriction on a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon:

ROCKCRAWLER.com - Jeep Rubicon Locker Bypass

Is there a way to enable the '02 Sequoia center diff to lock in 4HI by doing a similar modification? I'm way out of warranty, so I'm not the least bit concerned about that.

    Thanks!

I've done the Jeep Rubicon bypass. That has nothing to do with a center locking differential- that fix allows the axle air lockers operate in 4Hi as well as 4Lo. It's just a ground wire with a switch that defeats a relay. Nothing fancy and of debatable uselessfullness (probably should never be in 4Hi with lockers ON). Maybe some cases in sand dunes or snow, but not much else.

A center locking differential allows the front and rear outputs of the transfer case to be selectably 'locked' together with equal rotational output. There's some cases where that woudl be useful, but I'd be careful in 4Hi- especially on pavement. That center locking diff will REALLY shine in 4Lo when off-road.

I'd ask at yotatech.com or maybe even the Toyota forum at pirate4x4.com (be careful there....).

I posted over at Yotatech.com, too, but haven't gotten any responses. The Sequoia forum seems pretty dead. Sequoias seem to be the odd man out for off-road mods and such.

I will try over at pirate4x4.com, but I gotta ask.... what am I being careful about?

Be careful, because the guys on pirate can be ********.

Try over on IH8Mud as well. There is a 7-pin Mod that can be done to Land Cruisers with CDLs that might work for you, or there might be somebody out there with LC that knows a Sequoia. Do a search, there is a ton of info. Who knows, the systems might be almost the same.

Thanks for the tip. That's very encouraging to hear that there's a mod for the LCs. If that's the case, I'm SURE there's got to be something for the Sequoia.

If the rest of the driveline components didn't change from '02 to '03 on the Sequoias, then it would seem that only a minor mod should be needed to enable center diff locking in 4HI. In other words, if the '03 components can handle doing this, then the '02 should be able to as well, if everything's pretty much the same (differentials, axles, driveshaft, etc.)
