    Default What distinguishes Toyota's w/ "iForce V8's?"

I've searched for a few days...haven't really found anything.

Some trucks have iForce badging, others do not. Is there a power difference between the two?

I know there are two generations, one rated at 245hp, the other at 271hp.

I have an 02 Tundra w/ iForce v8...have noticed other 02's with just "V8" badging. This may seem stupid, but its really bothering me when I can't seem to find any information on this.

    Thanks.

To my knowledge, all v8s 2001 and up were "iForce" v8's. It's just a marketing term similar to Ford's Triton and Chevy's Vortec.

There was only one v6 and one v8 offered in the first gens, though the later models did get the hp bump when they introduced vvti.

The 05 Models switched to the vvt-i variety, anything older is still the same.

The 4.7L V8's started with the 2000 Tundra.

    Thanks.
Same motor here. The 2000-mid year 2002 used a "V8" badge. Toyota changed to the "iForceV8" after that point.

Partially true. The 2UZ-FE started in the Tundra with the first Tundra in 2000, yes. But I the first production 2UZ-FE was in the 1998 Land Cruiser and Lexus GX470. Before that, the 4.0L V8 was in the lexus sedans. Similar engine (maybe the same block?), but not a 4.7.

But to keep with the thread, there is no difference.

Nice call. You know the history well. I was only commenting on the Tundra version for the thread, as you noted.

I'm aware that the 4.7 came in 2000 Tundras - that's what I have. However, they did not wear iForce badges until the second model year, 2001.
