Default milage?

I'm interested in what kind of milage others are getting in their Tundra's. For example my 2002 (ext cap, v8, off-road pkg) gets around 12 mpg in the city and 15 on hwy (very conservative driving). Does this sound like it is within the ballpark?

PS. I drive the hell out of mine!

I've got a 2x4 v8 that gets 14 mpg in town. Haven't done much hwy driving yet. I am noticing an improvement in mpg as the engine breaks in. Just an idea, check your plugs. I do a lot of short trip driving and my plugs were very fouled at 700 miles.

Been over 10 months since I tracked milage, but I was regularly averaging 18-19 mpg (this includes a substantial majority of highway miles) - I don't have the TRD package, so that might make a difference but I can't imagine it would differ by much.

-- TundraDome

    Cool Re: milage?

Almost 1,000 per week for the last year. Owned the truck for 15 months and now have 62K Mostly SoCal freeways (LA, SD, AZ), 60-85mph, I normally get a little under 18. Best recorded was 20.7 on a tank @65mph

    Kray,
Your in the ballpark. I get about 13mpg around town in my 2001 V8 Access Cab. On the road I have gotten 21 on a trip.

I get 12mpg city and those rare times I drive on the hwy, it's 16mpg. Oh yes, the mileage can vary when using the a/c during hot weather.

6000 miles on my 02 and I'm averaging 16-17 in town and 17-19 on the interstate at 75-80 mph. Just returned from 450 trip with the bed loaded and a 1000 lb trailer in tow and got 18 mpg. So far I'm happy with the milage.

So far, city stop and go; 11-12 mpg. Best case on hwy; 18 mpg. BUT, I only have 1600 miles on the truck and hopefully things will loosen up and mileage will improve after the 10,000 mile mark.

I have 2500 miles on my '02 4X4 V8 access cab. I only drive 4 miles round trip to work and back and 7 miles round trip to the babysitters every day so my milage SUX. I average 11 MPG usually. so that's about a gallon a day...OUCH. I just went to San Diego over the weekend and filled up before I left. I reset the trip odomoter and filled up. Before I filled up I had 1/4 tank left and had only driven 128 miles. When I got back I had driven 135 miles and I had almost 3/4 tank left. So you can see that my normal driving is killing the milage. I try to get in a good roadtrip every couple of weeks just to make me feel better about the milage. I'm thinking of trading cars w/ my wife during the week since she drives 40 miles round trip per day. Nahhhh...I'll just ease of the gas pedal.... Nahhhhh...I guess I'll just deal with it..after all, it's a truck. I can't wait to get it out to Dumont or Glamis though.

I'm getting about 12.5 city and around 15.5 hwy. Only have about 1600 miles so far. I've only used 89 octane so far but I just filled up with 87 octane, gonna see if that makes a difference.

I have to run a mix of 89 and 93 octane with just my K&N and an exhaust--It knocks if I run 87. I rolled 19,997 miles as of yesterday
