I have a friend who owns a 2006 Sienna with 28,000 miles. He brought it
to the dealer to get new brake pads. After looking at it they called him
and told him it would cost $500. He asked why so much and they told him
because there is glazing on the rotors and they need to replace them
too. Anyone have any similar problems? I wouldn't think they would need
to replace the rotors. Thanks for any help.

What is ATF WS, the dealer charges about $7.00 per bottle (4 qts for $33 with tax) and it sounds thin like water. Where can I get info on changing the filter/gasket? Haynes and chilton manuals aren't out yet. Is it like other trannys?
Thanks

I have a '05 Sienna LE with 97k on it. This weekend i was under the van and noticed that the passenger side boot on the steering rack has multiple rips/holes. I've never seen a boot torn like this, and I have a Tundra with over 180k on it. So all the tears in the boot have me puzzled.

There is some seepage from it that got onto the frame, but nothing dripping on the ground yet. And it doesn't seem like ATF, it's black and seems more like grease, but hard to tell. For that matter, didn't notice any significant drop in fluid level from the reservoir.

Is it possible this seepage is just grease getting out from the torn boot? I am thinking of just keeping an eye out on the level for a month, if no drop in level then just replace the boot. Or is this pretty much proof that the rack will need replacing soon? I've been reading, and it seems that any type of leak here indicates imminent failure. Not too familiar with racks so any input would be appreciated. Given the price, this will be a diy job if it needs replacing.

Our rear sliding door's handle broke awhile back and just the other day my son switched the child safety lock now I cannot open the door. Should I replace the handle first or can I unlock it without replacing the handle? Pictures would really help.
