It was a direct swap, hooked up the new the same as the old and once you hit the power the volume is at full! .. and can't turn down, the volume button doesn't work at all.
Anyone experience this or know the fix?

hello,
I just ordered a Pioneer avh 4100 dvd head unit for my 2003 access cab. I was wondering which metra kit (if any) was needed to make it fit my dash?

i have an aftermarket Panasonic single Din h/u and i know i can't use the same adapter for that. my main concern is a flush look with no gaps.

Speaker Info for Gen 2 Tundra

For you guys who have pulled your stock speakers from the Gen 2 Non-JBL equipped Tundras, what is...

For you guys who have pulled your stock speakers from the Gen 2 Non-JBL equipped Tundras, what is the impedance of those OEM speakers? I've got a hunch that since the dash and door speakers are wired in parallel (found this through several searches), they are most likely 8 ohm speakers wired for a 4 ohm total load. Is this true? If so, it would mean that simply replacing the stock door speakers with aftermarket 4 ohm speakers would result in a 2.67 ohm load for the headunit's front channels. I would think that you could possibly overload your headunit's amplifier this way. Also what is the impedance of the rear speakers? 4 ohms? I would like to bypass my dash speakers for the above reasons but I don't want to totally screw up my imaging and have all highs and lows coming from ankle level.

Is anyone here who simply changed out their head unit and door speakers completely satisfied with the change in sound quality? I truly hope so, because that's my plan as I've vowed to not spend the money and effort to externally amplify my door speakers.

Thanks so much,

Wes

I have been searching and reading here since August. I have searched about every combination of words I can think of to try to find my answer, but I haven't.

I have a 2010 Tundra Limited CrewMax with Nav/JBL/4 Disc Changer/Aux Input.

The Aux input "features" work fine for my needs, however, I do not want the wire and iPod sitting on the center console... I want everything hidden in the glovebox like my old Tahoe.

From what I understand, if I buy the factory accessories iPod cable, it does everything I need, but I have to disconnect my Satellite radio to install it? Correct?

If I go aftermarket, it seems the most recommended iPod Interface is USASpec. Does this create any issue with the Satellite radio or other stock functions?

Please help! Pretty much my problems would be solved if the Aux Input was place in the glovebox, rather than the center console. :o

Is there any kind of a device that I can integrate with my audio system such that I could run it off of AC power when the vehicle is not running?

Say I'm working in my garage, and I would like to list to some music while I work. If I put my truck's ignition key to the "Accessories" position, the amplifiers will run the battery down in about an hour. Obviously I'd rather not have the engine running the whole time. It would really nice if I could plug an AC power cord into the truck so I could run the audio off of house current when it's parked.

Anyone every heard of such a thing?

Selecting the right car audio shop

Selecting the right car audio shop

Below I've outlined some tips on selecting the right car audio shop not only for sales but more importantly for installation. If you're not a DIY person, and many people are not, you will at some time seek the services of a car audio shop to install your gear.

Here's a few tips to make your experience as rewarding as possible.

Do as much research as you can about the products you want to buy and ultimately install in your car.

Test the shop sales person to see if he knows what he's talking about regarding the the products you like.

Don't let the shop up-sell you what they have laying around. If you don't know what you like listen to a friends stereo system or better yet go to a car stereo show. This is important, bring your own favorite CD, don't completely consider the quality of the component by the music that they're playing.

Demo any CD players and speakers using your CD with your favorite music. If the shop won't let you use your CD in their demos, walk out.

Car audio retailers are hurting for business right now, I don't care what they tell you. In a 50 mile radius of my home there use to be 9 shops, now there's only 3. They economy hit them hard and they need your business.

If the shop showroom appears to be a wreck when you walk in, leave.

If there's more than 15 head units on a single display board, leave. It's likely the shop is broke or the owners are in a divorce. No one in their right mind sets up these kind of displays anymore.

If the sales person, owner, installer doesn't immediately address you when you walk in, leave.

If your installation job is scheduled, do not leave your car there until they're ready to work on it.

When speaking with the sales person, owner or installer if he's constantly interrupted by a phone call, take your business elsewhere. Your business should be the most important thing in his day and constant interruptions are unacceptable in my book. I can only imagine how long your install will take if the one-man shop owner is constantly interrupted by phone calls.

If you just need installation of some products that you already have get an installation performance guarantee. This means you will be compensated if the installation takes longer than expected. If they refuse to offer one, walk out.

Remember these shops are basically contractors that you hire to do a specific, agreed upon job. If the job is incomplete, wrong or late, I personally expect to be compensated for my inconvenience. I can see how some of the above sounds bitter and that's because I've been screwed over by broken promises before. Today there are fewer and fewer reputable car audio shops largely because of the economy and piss poor customer service. Demand more from your installer and you should get it.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with either of these boxes. The first box is 2.13 cubic feet and the second 1.2 cubic feet. Does anyone know how much different the two boxes will sound with the same subs? I've noticed that most 10 inch subs say the best volume is between .6 and 1.2 cubic feet per sub so both boxes would work, they are just on each end of the volume spectrum. Also the first is down firing and the second up firing...how does that effect the sound? Thanks

I have a 2003 Tundra access cab. I upgraded the stereo to a single din XM ready radio a couple of years ago but I'm now looking to upgrade even further. Would one of the in-dash DVD/radio/navigation units fit into the space in the tundra dash? It almost looks like a din and a half rather than a double din???

Also, will the new flip out type of unit work in this spot? It seems like the lip of the top of the dash may interfere? Ideas?
