I own a 1998 Tacoma 4 cyl FWD. For the past 6 months I have had problems with the starter. There have been times when I put the key in the ignition turn it and nothing happens. If I wait a few munites, turn the ignition again it fires right up. A friend of mine owns a shop and we replaced the starter. Worked fine for about three months then the same thing all over again. We replaced the starter again, started fine for about a month and now I am back at square one:mad: We checked the last starter and it was dead! What is it that could be killing the starter?

Question Stock 4x4 gear ratio

I am trying to find out what the stock ring and pinion gear ratio is on my 2007 Tacoma 4x4 regular...

I am trying to find out what the stock ring and pinion gear ratio is on my 2007 Tacoma 4x4 regular cab with a 4 cyl. I am planning on installing a lift "OME" and am going to run 32" tires. I am currently running 245 70R-16s which is around 29.5 inches in diameter. The gears seem to be too low already with the stock tires. I am looking at 4.56s just so I can get a little more power and I do not plan on doing allot of freeway driving. Everyone I talked too already says I have 4.11s in it right now and that should be fine with 32"s but it feels like the gears are too low already with my stock tires and I could not imagine driving with 32" diameter tires with my stock ring and pinion. Besides purchasing ring and pinion sets for the front and rear differentials, is there anything else I need to know that pertains to my 2007 Tacoma regular cab 4cyl. 4x4? I want to get this done right the first time. Is this something that I can take to the dealership and have done in 3-4 hours?

Hey guys. I usually hang out in the Tundra forum because thats what I drive. I'm trying to help a neighbor out who lost her husband to a heart attack a couple of months ago. She has a 2007 2WD Tacoma with a little under 30,000 miles on it and the tires are worn out. She tells me they have been rotated regularly (I did'nt ask what regularly was) but the drivers side front looks pretty worn as compared to the others. On the Tundra forum, there is a fella with a user name of DJ that has posted some pretty finite specs for a front end alignment. I used these on my 03' Tundra and it made a world of diff. Have you all found a simillar set of specs that have worked out for a stock Tacoma? Also, are the Tacomas like the Tundra as far as some of the wheels being lug centric and some being hub centric?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a 2006 non-TRD 4X4 Tacoma with OEM Dunlop AT20s (245/75/16). I'm pretty sure I want some BFG A/Ts, but am still debating exactly what size. I really want 265/75/16, but can only find them in an E load range. I'd rather have a C or D. The 265/70/16s come in a D range, but are basically no taller than the OEM Dunlops. I want a slightly taller tire to correct the speedo. Are any of you running E load range A/Ts, and if so, how is the ride? I'm afraid that the E tires are too much tire (too stiff/heavy) for a Tacoma. Any help would be appreciated.
