Default brain fart

I just realized that I have been driving in D4 the 1st couple of months that I have had my FJ. I was disappointed in my gas mileage, about 14-15mpg. I thought it would improve having it in just D. Seems to be about the same though. Any thoughts??

Nearest real city is about 105 miles on a two lane road. I'm a bit of a lead foot. Usual time for my trip is 1.25hours. I use up approx 6-6.5 gallons = 16-17 mpg. Once in a while I drive the speed limit and would get 18-18.5mpg. Using regular fuel (87). No Idea why your getting 14-15 mpg.

thanks for the input. i have about 20 miles of highway and 10 miles of city per day. i'm refilling tank at about 245 miles driven on that tank. maybe i'm filling up to soon to get an accurate #. but the light is on and the needle seems to be on empty.
