    Default 4 Runner VS FJ

Thinking about trading my 04 4 Runner in on new FJ, good or bad idea? Don't see much good said on here about the FJ, I do have the new Tundra with the 5.7 and love it. any advise would be helpful
    Thanks

They are completely different vehicles. The FJ is a small, cheapish SUV that is intended for outdoor stuff and off road use, and IMO, is not as practical as a 4runner. The 4runner will likely have better interior quality, more smoothness/quietness (especially V8), more room, higher towing ability, and many other advantages. The FJ is quite quick, however. The FJ has poor gas mileage for such a vehicle of its class, but the 4runner isn't exactly great either. One huge gripe I had about the FJ when I test drove one - I have never seen an SUV with blind spots worse than it.

Is your 4runner a V6 or V8? And a Limited or sport, etc? How has it held up?

I'm sure people here w/ FJs will be able to chime in more as I have had very little experience with them. I drive a Sequoia myself, and personally think that the Xterra is the best SUV money can buy.

Thanks for the reply, that was my gut feeling also, I have the V6 with 42000 miles on it and the only thing I ahve done is tires and brakes, the wife drives it I don't the seats just don't make it for me. I think I am going to hang on to this for a while it doesn't lose that much in valve.

My father owns a Forerunner Limited and I was driving a loaded Tundra Double-cab 4x4...so I've spent quite a bit of time driving both of them...I traded the Tundra for the FJ...it's just more fun to drive...I like shifting gears and the FJ felt more taut and rugged...it's certainly less plush and refined but that's not what I was looking for in a vehicle...finance never came into the equation...I'd buy a Land Cruiser if I enjoyed it more...but the FJ has been fun...all I need is a sun roof to be completely happy.

A friend of mine traded his 04 4Runner for an 07 FJ Cruiser and wishes he didn't. Doesn't like the fact he lost all the creature comforts he had in the 4Runner, including lost visability when parking. Lift that 4Runner and enjoy all but the real hardcore wheeling you can do in the FJ. Check out 4Runner.org for more 4Runner info.
