Hey everyone, my father is looking to purchase an FJ and is waiting till there is an improvement in airflow for the rear seats and storage area. We have a dog that goes everywhere with us and especially on our fishing trips. Unfortunately she also likes to roll around in the mud and dead fish so she often has a rank odor after we slay some salmon.
The question at hand is whether or not Toyota will offer a rear window that rolls down and/or side windows that open. His only other concern is the large blind spot due to the large B pillar at the back of the suicide door. What is your opinion on these two issues? Any suggestions? Thanks for your input.

The design of the FJ as a retro vehicle, and I stress the word DESIGN as being the catalyst for the car itself, is to keep it as close to its 60's and 70's counterpart.
Want 4 doors? Want a set of roll down windows and no blind spot?
4Runner!

The back window does open, you have to hold the key counter clockwise in the cylinder for about 3 seconds to "pop" it. Also on the visibility, i dont think it will ever change which is why Toyota introduced the backup sensors. There are aftermarket backup cameras that can be put in as well.

The only place my dog gets to my car is my pickup truck's bed. It's open air, dogs love it and it has bed-liner so odor was never a problem. Bottom line for me is... no dog "inside" my car!
IMHO, you need a pickup truck something like Honda Ridgeline.

I have a Tundra CM SR5 with a 5.7L. My dad is more interested in the FJ and with the plastic flooring, size, shape, and variety of aftermarket products. For him the ride quality is better than a Jeep or anything of that sort.

I actually think the 4runner is both more practical and also more capable off road. Supposedly Toyota is going to quit producing the FJ next year. But the 4runner will be kept. Get a 4runner and make it badass!

where did u get this news from on Toyota dropping it? Personally i think it's bad taste to drop an icon from the Lineup even with Gas prices. I personally don't care for the FJ Cruiser it's Butt ugly almost in the same category as like a Ridgeline or Element from Honda. The Biggest problem on the Fj is the side visibility is horrible and there is a huge blind spot on side panel. Offroading wise it's pretty heavy but does aid in full time 4wd and part time 4wd options.
I would like to see Toyota make an FJ Cruiser rag top like a wrangler
