Default customs fit yakima rack

I have a 2007 FJ and I got it without the rack after readiong so much negative about it. I didn't do my homework and now find that my old Yakima set up will require the factory rack and some new towers. I understand form Yakima that some FJ owners have done a custom Yakima fit without the factory rack. I am curious to know which tower was used and what was involved in making the fit.

Default Re: customs fit yakima rack

I put the Yakima Lowrider Max on my factory rack, and it sucks, so I'd like to see how to do without the factory rack too. It sits up so high as to create huge windnoise and resistance, and makes it hard to fit under my carport.
