The FJ Cruiser is powered by a high-compression 4.0L V6 engine, a 24-valve, doubleoverhead- cam (DOHC) unit delivering 239 horsepower and 278 lb-ft. torque. The engine is further refined with Toyota’s Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system and Direct Ignition System (DIS), making it more efficient, powerful, and smooth. 4x4 models of the FJ Cruiser come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an electronically shifted 5-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the MT model comes with a full-time 4x4 system. The 4x2 model is available only with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
